Wild Places. Wild Traditions. 85 Years of Engaging Hearts & Hands.

We are a small 501(c)3 non-profit with only four year-round employees, but we have a big impact annually engaging over 14,000 students through over 850 education programs.  Although the circle of schools, libraries, camps, and families we serve stretches into southern Vermont, northern New Hampshire, and over the border into Quebec, our 85 year presence in Derby keeps us securely rooted in and committed to serving our Northeast Kingdom communities. Strongly supported by our local community, we are likewise committed to giving back by seasonally employing dozens of area high school and college students as camp counselors and purchasing from local businesses and farms.

Our facilities include a 4-season Lodge with a full kitchen that is ideal for year-round education programs, events, retreats, receptions, and reunions. In addition, a 3-season bunkhouse facilitates overnight experiences for up to 80 guests. The Rec, a 5200 square foot indoor recreation facility completed in January 2017, provides year round opportunities for basketball, volleyball, tumbling, tennis, pickle ball, fitness classes, and much more. All of this and camp’s 35 acres of woods and fields, hiking trails, a waterfront on lovely Lake Salem, and a 30 foot climbing tower and ropes course are all within 5 miles of Ext 28 off Interstate 91.
