Thanks to a grant from the VT Community Foundation, Charleston 4/5th Graders visited NWR Biologist Rachel Cliche and learned about her use of winter track transects to study the Refuge’s endangered Canada Lynx population. Students then worked with Siskin to collect their own data using winter track transects on school grounds. Students then analyzed their data and presented their methods and findings in formal research papers that contained management recommendations for the forest and field habitats that surround the Charleston School.
